Katie Gardener

Katie is registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT, member number: RC0034194) and the Health and Care Professions Council (member number: SL31817).

Katie received her Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) and Master’s of Science (MSc) in Speech and Language Therapy at City, University of London in 2013.

Katie is a Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist who divides her time between her role in the NHS as the Autism and Social Communication Team Clinical Lead and private practice. She has 10 years of experience working within the specialism of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) from birth to adolescence. In addition to ASC, she has worked in clinical areas such as complex medical needs, cerebral palsy, eating and drinking delays/disorders, sensory feeding needs and speech delays/disorders. Her methods draw upon a range of experiences and professional training, including Hanen More Than Words, Hanen It Takes Two to Talk, Intensive Interaction, SOS approach to feeding, narrative therapy, social stories, comic strip conversations and Talking Mats. She is passionate about infant, child and adolescent mental health and has attended conferences on topics such as anxiety in ASC, attachment disorder and emotional regulation strategies. She additionally has training in counselling skills from the University of Brighton. Katie is passionate about neurodiversity and loves learning, growing and understanding how to meaningfully and compassionately support this population.

Katie is highly qualified to carry out the ADOS-2 and works as part of the Foundations multi-disciplinary team.
