Dr Russell is a clinical psychologist specialising in working with adolescents. He completed a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology, Canterbury Christ Church University, before going on to work in community and inpatient NHS mental health services for young people. Since 2021, Dr Russell has run his own private practice in Tunbridge Wells for young people and families.

Dr Russell specialises in relational psychological therapy for young people with complex histories, who may struggle with overwhelming emotions or difficult memories. His work is integrative and often draws on eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) and mentalization-based treatment for adolescents (MBT-A). His passion is for understanding how our early experiences, especially those in relationships, shape our view of the world, and how this is reflected at the level of the brain.

Dr Russell is excited to share psychological knowledge and is a regular contributor to the ‘Let’s All Talk Mental Health’ series of expert seminars on the topics of self harm and emotional dysregulation. He is a chartered member and associate fellow of the British Psychological Society, and a busy dad to two young children.
